Susan Kjellsen, Chief Executive Officer

Susan Kjellsen is the co-founder of K2 Solutions, Inc., a defense contracting company she established alongside Lane Kjellsen. She played a pivotal role in securing the company’s Top-Secret clearance from the Department of Defense and served for several years as its Facility Security Officer. Throughout much of her tenure at K2, Susan was the lead proposal writer, responsible for developing strategic, high-level proposals that contributed to the company’s sustained growth and government contracting success.

A native of Kansas, Susan holds a Bachelor of Science in Education with a concentration in English from the University of Kansas. She brings over 40 years of writing experience spanning multiple industries. Her early career included authoring several romance novels for Harlequin/Silhouette Books. She also served as the head writer for the Anchorage, Alaska School District’s television station, where she produced public relations content. Her freelance work has appeared in publications such as Guideposts, Just Labs, and Retriever News. Additionally, she is an accomplished playwright, with works produced in both Anchorage, Alaska, and Mesquite, Nevada. She is a proud mother of three, grandmother of four, and shares her home with two cats and a dog. A passionate photographer since childhood, she continues to pursue her creative interests with the same dedication she brings to her professional endeavors.

As a long-standing member of the K2 Board of Directors and Board Secretary for the majority of the company’s 20 plus year history, Susan was deeply involved in executive decision-making, program development, and strategic partnership cultivation. Today, Susan is the sole owner and Chief Executive Officer of the Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) K2K9 Solutions, LLC in North Carolina.
